April 2021

It’s officially spring! I hope that this letter finds you having seen our last snowfall of winter 2020-2021. Our whole office is 100% ready for all things spring – storing the winter coats, putting the ice scraper into the trunk and pulling out the shorts!

March has been another busy month at our practice. In early March our team attended a virtual conference hosted by Dolphin, the company that creates the software that keeps our patient information organized and secure. We attended some sessions together and broke into smaller groups for sessions that applied to our areas of expertise. To follow up this training, our team is creating presentations so that we can educate each other. It has been a great month of learning and growth!

In March we also hosted the March Madness Big Bracket Bash for our referring offices. Thank you to all of the offices who participated! Offices that requested to participate received brackets in their inbox after they were announced March 14th. Once the games started, points were tallied and prizes were mailed to the big winners and losers! Thank you for playing along!

Dr. Bridget’s New Year’s Tips

My fingers are crossed that spring has sprung and that we have seen the last of snow until October or November. I can’t wait to get outside to see some new sites. Here is a list of some of my favorite outdoor venues to visit.

  • Zoos: I love the zoo and so does my family. We have all been to the Detroit Zoo so many times that it can sometimes seem too predictable. When we want to be a little more adventurous, my family and I plan a road trip to see the Binder Park Zoo in Battle Creek or the Toledo Zoo in Ohio. Yes, the drive is longer but I promise that you won’t be disappointed.
  • Nature Centers: I love to see the trees budding and the gross growing. My favorite nature hike locations are Stoney Creek, Kensington MetroPark, The Stage Nature Center, The Johnson Nature Center and the Red Oaks Nature Center.
  • Outdoor Shopping: Fresh air and shopping? Yes please! Visiting boutique areas like Partridge Creek, downtown Rochester, downtown Birmingham and Rochester Village can feel like a nice change of pace from the traditional mall.

Around the office…

During March we supported March is Reading Month with our local schools. Several schools requested donations to support their Reading Month plans. Did you receive one of our cool bookmarks at school?

Next Month we are honoring Autism Awareness Month. Our team selected Autism Awareness themed t-shirts to wear throughout the month and a portion of each new commitment to treatment will be donated to Healing Haven of Madision Heights. Healing Haven is a resource for families living with autism and provides therapy and support.

Employee of the Month

Our Employee of the Month for April is our orthodontic assistant, Mel. Mel has been working in orthodontics for twenty years. What an accomplishment! When she isn’t at the practice, Mel enjoys spending time with her husband, John, and their two kids Kadence and Jaxson. During COVID Mel and her family adopted a border collie/shepherd mix puppy that they named Bodhi. Bodhi is a lot of fun and very energetic. He keeps everyone on their toes!

Mel loves working in orthodontics. She says that she really enjoys the variety of treatment, learning new things and constantly being challenged to try new things.
