January 2021

Happy New Year! Our office is so excited to kick off a new year with you. We can all agree that 2020 was memorable, to say the least. Let’s move into 2021 with gratitude for good health and appreciation for a fresh start.

In the spirit of a “fresh start” mentality, we are making some changes at our practice. Some of you may have already noticed that our website – www.sterlingortho.com – received a facelift in early October. If you have not already done so, please visit the website to see our fresh new look. We have updated our staff photos and added some new COVID-19 related information. We also are continuing to use the SmileSnap Widget for virtual appointments and consultations.

We have also updated our referral cards and new patient paperwork. All of our new paper products have the same bright, airy feel as our website and include new staff photos. If you have an older referral card, all of the contact information is the same and either card can be used at our practice.

Dr. Bridget’s New Year’s Tips

The new year is a popular time to set new goals, but by February 1st most of us have thrown our resolutions to the curb. For 2021, I am determined to stick to my resolutions all year long. Here are the tools that I am using to help me stick to m y plans;

  • Use a great task manager app like Asana or Trello to keep your goals in the palm of your hand. Track your status and update your resolutions with new sub-tasks and follow up.
  • Write it down! Seeing your goals every day is a great way to stay on track – post them on a mirror or your fridge so you see your goals daily.
  • Buddy up! Share your goals with a friend or spouse and work toward your goals together. Having a partner to keep you accountable is a great way to stay on track.
  • Make it convenient. If your goals revolve around eating healthy or losing weight, take advantage of meal services like Hello Fresh or BlueApron. Trying to save money? Check out banking and budgeting apps like Acorn, Wallet and Chime. Take advantage of the cool tools available that will help you stick to your resolutions and see progress in 2021!

Orthodontic Tip of the Month

If you haven’t already, now is the perfect time to commit to flossing twice a day!

Around the office…

Our first annual Sterling Christmas Tree Farm was a huge sucess during December. Each staff member decorated a two foot, table top tree. Our patients voted for their favorite tree and our orthodontic assistant, Gina, was the lucky winner! When our office closed for the holidays on December 18th, our trees were donated to Kensington Church and the pediatric ward of Angela’s Hospice.

Speaking of Gina, she is one of the 2020 additions to our Sterling Orthodontics family! Gina has worked with us for six months and has enjoyed over ten years working in the orthodontic field. She is the proud mother of Charlie, who recently turned one year old, and Marlan, who is a high school graduate. Gina loves to sing, cook and spend time with friends. If she weren’t working in orthodontics, Gina would love to be a pilot. She is very excited to be a part of the team here at Sterling Orthodontics.

During the holiday season we hosted Twelve Days of Giveaways on our Facebook page. Participants were entered to win gift cards to local businesses when they liked our page, shared our posts and tagged two friends. Prizes included gift cards to Donut Bar, Top Golf and Griffenclaw Brewery. We host contests like the Twelve Days of Giveaways throughout the year. If you don’t follow us already, please be sure to like our page so that you can stay up to date with the latest at Sterling Orthodontics.

Our January contest will be Two Truths and One Lie. Team members submitted three fun “facts” about themselves, but one of them is a lie! Patients will be asked to guess the lie. The lie detectors will be entered to win a $25.00 Amazon gift card.

Happy New Year!
